Carla H. Abel, 85, of Bedford, passed away on September 21, 2026, at the Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born September 24, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of George and Ernestine (Blackburn) Hitchcock. She married Norman E. Abel on February 13, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he preceded her in death.Carla graduated from Bedford High School and attended Indiana University and Ivy Tech. She was a service representative for the Social Security Administration and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Altrusa Club.She enjoyed attending church services, doing crossword and word search puzzles, cross-stitching, and dining with her friends.Surviving to cherish Carla’s memory is her son, Michael E. (Juanita) Fields of Springville; her daughter, Carrie (Ed) Bunch of Spencer; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Abel; her parents, George and Ernestine Hitchcock; her son, Jeffrey D. Fields; her brothers, Donald, Thomas, George, and John Hitchcock; and her sisters, Nadine Hendershot and E. Joan Griffith.Funeral services for Carla will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 818 18th Street, Bedford, Indiana, with Judy Early officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation for Carla will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m., also at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.Online condolences may be sent and flowers ordered at www.ThorneFunerals.com.

Danny Joe Heidrick, 38, of Spencer, passed away at his home on Friday, September 18, 2026. Born on June 7, 1988, at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Danny was a beloved son of David Ray and Carol Sue (Slicer) Heidrick.Danny will be remembered most for the love he had for his son, Danny Joe “DJ” Heidrick II. Some of his happiest moments were spent taking DJ to Disneyland, sharing the excitement of those special trips, and sitting together playing with Thomas the Train sets. Their bond was one of the greatest joys of Danny’s life.He had a lifelong love of anything with an engine. Danny enjoyed racing cars and go-karts, and he had a special talent for working on small engines and bringing them back to life. Whether he was fixing something that others had given up on or enjoying the thrill of a race, Danny found happiness in the work, the challenge, and the memories made along the way.Above all, Danny cherished time with his family. The family farm was a place close to his heart - a place where he could be surrounded by the people he loved and enjoy the simple moments that meant so much to him. His humor hands-on spirit, and the love he showed to those closest to him will be deeply missed.Danny is survived by his son, DJ Heidrick; his parents, David and Carol Heidrick; his brothers, David Heidrick II and Eddie (Crystal) Heidrick; his nephews, David “Trey” Heidrick III, Gauge (Kaylee) Heidrick, Dakota (Abby) Heidrick, Jacob Heidrick, and Braxton Heidrick; his niece, Skylee Heidrick; and his great-nephews, Easton Heidrick and Bentley Heidrick. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ronnie and Shirley Heidrick; his maternal grandparents, Charlie “Toby” and Mary Slicer; and his aunts, Rhonda Evans, Debbie Slicer, and Patricia Slicer.A funeral service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home of Walton Funeral Service in Spencer, with Dr. Alan Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Hudson Hill.Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.Online condolences may be shared at www.westparrishpedigo.com.
